APPLICATION

The SUVAG 2S is a portable professional unit designed for individual speech rehabilitation therapy for the profoundly and partially deaf, those with some hearing impairment and certain speech defects.

The SUVAG 2S is much easier to use than the SUVAG II because there are fewer filters and hence a smaller number of optimal auditory fields which can be synthesised. However, thanks to the numerous filter combinations possible, most subjects for rehabilitation can be treated.

The unit transmits and amplifies particularly the very low speech frequencies and is therefore suitable for the rehabilitation of the profoundly deaf.

Although designed for individual rehabilitation, the use of headphones and a vibrator, with the addition of a BD 3 distribution box, its power output allows two sets of headphones and two vibrators to be connected, for work with two or three children at the same time.

CHARACTERISTICS

Technically, the SUVAG 2S consists of a preamplifier, three independant amplification channels, a mixer and an output ampliifer. It has the following characteristics and possibilities :

- Inputs for one or two ME31 electret microphones, dynamic microphones or tape recorder.
- A Direct Channel (CD) with volume control and pushbutton switch, frequency range 2 Hz to 17 kHz.
- A Low Frequency Channel (CG) with volume control and pushbutton switch, consisting of a set of filters with four cutt-off frequencies : 400, 600, 800 and 1000 Hz with right slopes of 0, 20 or 60 dB/oct. and left slopes of 0, 6 or 18 dB/oct.
- A luminous ON/OFF mains switch.
- A High-frequency Channel (CA) with volume control and pushbutton switch, consisting of a set of filters with four cut-off frequencies : 2, 3 4 and 6 kHz with left slopes of 0, 20 or 60 dB/oct. and right slopes of 0, 6 or 18 dB/oct.
- A mixer for combining three channels with an output volume control consisting of an attenuator calibrated in steps of 10 dB and a potentiometer for continual fine adjustment from 0 to 10 dB. Total attenuation : 80 dB.
- Output volume indicator with four LEDS, three green and one yellow ; the yellow one indicates the limiting level.
- A fifth red LED, beside the yellow one, indicates that current protection is activated, i.e. that there is a malfunction in the unit.
- Output power : 12 W.
- Two 6,35 mm mono output jack sockets, one " SORTIE " for connecting a VIBAR SUVAG R 50 vibrator, a CA 100 headphone or the BD 3 distribution box, and the second, for a CA 100 headphone with its potentiometer above it for volume adjustment.
- Maximum sound pressure at the headphones CA 100, about 140 dB.
- The output voltage is limited to a peak of 17 V so as to protect the headphones and vibrators. A further special protection for the transducers is incorporated to attenuate the effects of any internal failure of the amplifier.
- Mains power supply : 220 V ± 10 % ; 50 Hz – 60 Hz. (Other mains voltages available on request).

The same accessories as are available with all the other SUVAG units are also available for use with the SUVAG 2S, notably :

- ME31 electret type microphone, with or without harness.

- Vibrator VIBAR SUVAG R 50 (50 Ohms).
- The BD 3 distribution box.
